Mist cordially invites you, to join us on the 10th Indian Coming Out Day. Be a part of this gathering, to celebrate Indian Coming Out Day by sharing your stories, listening to others life experience, some thoughts from well known activists who fought for Sec 377 and networking with snacks in five different cities.
Why Indian Coming Out Day is celebrated:
On 2009, July 2nd, the High Court of Delhi read down Section 377, thus decriminalizing homosexuality between two consenting adults. The judgement was later overturned by the Supreme Court of India on December 11th 2013 repealing Sec 377 and then the Supreme Court of India decriminalized homosexuality between two consenting adults, in its landmark verdict on the 6th of September 2018. We, at Mist celebrated the landmark judgement of Delhi High Court every year as “Indian Coming Out Day” on the 2nd of July to show the world out there that we are not going back in the closet. Even though we have a bigger victory to celebrate on the September 6th, we do not want to forget the first victory that was felt on the 2nd of July 2009.
