Mayhem Mini Ball
November is Trans Awareness Month—a celebration and recognition of transgender communities and people. Trans Awareness Month also includes Transgender Day of Remembrance, honoring the memory of the transgender people whose lives were lost in acts of anti-trans violence.
Honoring that November 20th is TDOR Trans Day of Remembrance, we’ll host a remembrance, celebration of life, have an altar, moment of silence, and afterwards, celebrate our ancestors via trans and queer joy, a performance or two, and miniball honoring them. (Categories will be geared towards honoring Trans icons.)
This event is open to all, and all categories are open to all. Cis, queer, LGBTQ, trans, non binary, gender fluid, allies, etc.
Event Timings.
8pm-9pm- TDOR event. A space to meet with TGX (Trans and Gender Expansive) community members, have time to build community, light a candle, have a moment of silence, and (trigger warning) read the names of Desi Trans community members whom we we’ve lost to violence this year.
9pm-10pm-
Performances by local drag queens, and trans people.
10pm-12pm- MINI BALL
CATEGORIES:
Face (cash prize 2,500 rupees): We want a full beat face incorporating the colors of the trans flag, blue, pink and white in any way you creativity flows. It can be your eyeshadow, lips, your hair, jewelry surrounding the face, or accessories to help you sell face, be as innovative as you wish.
Vogue performance (cash prize 2,500 rupees): Honoring the trans women of ballroom, Vogue this evening with be fem oriented. Serve us at least 3 of the five elements in fem Vogue performance. (Hands, duck walk, cat walk, spin & dips, floor performance) to honor our desi roots, feel free to incorporate desi dance hand play, or dance elements into your vogue, but bring it cunty and fem.
Runway (cash prize 2,500 rupees): Bring us your best looks honoring the colors of the International Trans Flag. Vibrant shades of pink, blue, and white. Fabrics, long trains, a look that makes you stand out, be creative.
12-until close:
The one and only, MOHOMO on the beats will make you dance, celebrate, and feel all the FEELS for the remainder of the night!
