HIV – Self Testing

GET INVOLVED. GET TESTED.

TIME TO STOP HIV & END THE STIGMA
Why & Who should get tested?

1 in 8 people don't know they are infected by HIV. Testing is the only way to know for sure if you HIV. Knowing your status means you can keep yourself and your sexual partners healthy. Being diagnosed early gives you a better chance of living a long and healthy life.

You should get tested if you:

  • have had unprotected sex
  • have recently been diagnosed with another STI
  • have shared needles or other injecting equipment
  • are worried about HIV and want to put your mind at ease.

Also, believe, testing positive is not the end to everything. A positive result is start to access HIV treatment (antiretroviral drugs) earlier, which will reduce the amount of HIV in your body and protect your immune system from damage.

How can you get tested?

You can get tested in multiple ways. The latest and simplest way of getting tested is through the HIV Self-Testing kits which are easy to use and gives you a 98% accuracy in just 20 mins. Self-testing kits are antigen tests and no blood sample is required. The test requires 30-40 mins of your time, your oral swab as specimen, and courage.
