An initiative that works with weavers and artisans across INDIA to create transparency and sing the songs of loom.

To wake up from compulsive living
कहत कबीर सुनो भाई साधो
WEAVERS, weaving at break of day,
Why do you weave a garment so gay? . . .
Blue as the wing of a halcyon wild,
We weave the robes of a new-born child.
Weavers, weaving at fall of night,
Why do you weave a garment so bright? . . .
Like the plumes of a peacock, purple and green,
We weave the marriage-veils of a queen.
Weavers, weaving solemn and still,
What do you weave in the moonlight chill? . . .
White as a feather and white as a cloud,
We weave a dead man’s funeral shroud.

The poem is written by our Nightingale of Indian Sarojini Naidu.
I hold the profoundness of this piece very close to me.
Our weavers have always stayed true to the spirit of what India is,the eternal wisdom, so let’s celebrate their work.
Are we doing this just because we are Indians❓
No.
1) Our weavers spin and weave solely by their hands on simple Charkha and loom.Without the use of any fossil fuel driven machine but simply by devoting their time and bodies to this art form.
Let’s respect and celebrate that.
2) The carbon footprint stays minimum.
Let’s celebrate that under whatever fancy term you would like.
3) It feeds numerous humble families as India is still the largest producer and supplier of handloom fabric.
Let’s join hands in this for a social cause.
I can go on and on about this but I’ll let the song of KABIR do the magic.
