Barclays is a progressive organization that places great emphasis on inclusion and inclusivity. The DEI agenda is robust and the employee resource groups, spanning a number of pillars, are a vibrant resource pool, complementing the agenda strongly.
Spectrum, the LGBT+ employee resource group has been consistently furthering the DEI agenda. Arguably, the broader ecosystem has been a rich tapestry of grit and determination – so many people in the community have been trailblazers. They have shown the path to so many more, within and without the community, with their courage and their persistence. There is no doubt that a combination of this effort and the heartening response of our judiciary and our system that has heard the need, has moved the needle. Yet, much remains to be done and this is largely in terms of societal shift even though there has been some truly empathetic and progressive thought leadership there as well.
We offer our gratitude to everyone who has shown the way, and are committed to doing our bit as an employee resource group at Barclays – our path being one that embraces everything and everyone and every thought that normalizes the conversation such that equality and inclusion are not discussion pieces anymore.
In the course of this journey, every step that we take, be it in terms of policy, of harnessing every opportunity to include, sensitize, spread awareness and information, offer external support through our own efforts as well as with our citizenship team, partner with our fellow employee resource groups as we deal with aspects holistically and across strands that are in many ways so connected, is very important for us. Because it is vital to create a diverse, and equal, and safe space for everyone, so that all of us flourish, and think of things in a way that nurtures change.”
